Other Volunteer Opportunities

While Hearts & Hammers is suspended for 2020, here are other "one day volunteer" opportunities needing your help that might be of interest.

Jubilee Reach

UPDATE: Sept 2020

Jubilee REACH is providing groceries and hope to members of our community during this difficult time.  By signing up, you will be purchasing about $25 worth of groceries from a set shopping list for a family in need and bringing it to Jubilee REACH on a scheduled day for distribution to the family. Drop off times Mon-Fri 9am-12pm and Saturday 8:00am-9:30am.  Families have been referred to Jubilee REACH primarily from the Bellevue School District and are struggling financially during this crisis.  This help with groceries will provide vital food, as well as let their own money stretch further.

The program had originally been set to run through August 29th. JR staff was working with the families to transition them out of the program if possible as they got their jobs back, or to connect them with other resources.  The premise of that plan, though, was that the re-opening phases would continue, and jobs would be coming back.  As that hasn’t happened,  the decision was made to continue the program for the foreseeable future as much as best as could be done.  As the effects of the pandemic deepened, the demand kept increasing. In the midst of this crisis, some good news...

Call it "Divine Intervention" perhaps, but last month, suddenly, the USDA contacted Jubilee Reach and said, “We love what you’re doing and we can help.”  The USDA is putting together boxes of food with high-quality protein, dairy, fruits & vegetables.  This keeps farmers employed and feeds the hungry.  We are “the last mile” - getting the food to the families in need.  As a result, as of Sept 1, we are asking volunteers to supplement the USDA food donations with an update grocery list.
